How does it work?
There are two key components to LTCM: The application and the service

The LTCM applicationLTCM Example

The LTCM application is installed on the user's PC or Mac. The application is distributed to these users in a variety of methods. One is by including the LTCM application as part of the registration process. During product registration, the user is asked if they would like to hear from the participating company through this unique direct-to-desktop messaging system. If the user responds yes, the application is installed on their computer. Another method is by promoting the LTCM application through a manufacturer's web site and through the manufacturer's email marketing efforts. Again, the service is explained to the user and if they elect to do so, they will download the application from a participating company's web site and install it on their computer.

The service

Messages are created using any standard html editor, similar to email messages. They are then posted to the LTCM Message Center. Various filters can be selected to specifically target messages. Some typical filters are:
  • Start and stop dates
  • Language
  • Product model and or serial number
  • Date - birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.
Messages are pulled down to the LTCM client application based on these filters.

The LTCM client checks in using the schedule set by the user to see if there are messages available on the channel and topics the user has subscribed to. The LTCM client will check daily, weekly or monthly depending on on the frequency selected by the user.

Messages are pulled down from the server to the LTCM client where they are displayed to the user. Users can interact with the message in similar fashion as emails. They can click through to any associated web pages, save the messages for future viewing or delete the messages.

All activity is tracked and reported with a robust set of online reports.
